BILLINGS (AP) — A 43-year-old Lame Deer woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of her boyfriend.

Kimberly Joyce Hiwalker was accused of shooting 41-year-old Herbie Whitedirt in the head during an argument at her parents’ house in Lame Deer on Nov. 3, 2007.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Archer said Hiwalker told investigators that Whitedirt had threatened her about leaving him. Hiwalker said she didn’t intend to kill Whitedirt and she didn’t remember much about the incident because she had been drinking.
She remains in custody and faces up to eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine. District Judge Richard Cebull scheduled her sentencing for Feb. 19.
